Attract, Recruit, Retain, Develop (ARRD)

ARRD
One of the main issues in recent times has been the shortfall in the number of care workers required in the sector. With an ageing population this is only going to get worse. The other main issue is the perceived lack of professional standing and skills set compared with its NHS counterpart.
So how do we resolve these issues?
The Yorkshire Care ARRD strategy is a complete review and overhaul of the current processes and a realisation that we need as a sector to be better.
As a care provider or a care worker you want to be seen to work with a business that has a good reputation in your local area. A business that demonstrates and communicates its values and walks the talk. A business that your current employees want to refer to friends and finally a business that is enjoyable to work in.
We call this Stage ATTRACT

Once you have an attraction you need to recruit the right type of employees for your business. The right new employees will build your business, the wrong ones will create issues in the short and long term . Use a professional value-based recruitment process and ensure employees that have decided to join the organisation feel a member of that organisation from the time the offer letter goes out.
We call this stage RECRUIT
A successful business should spend more time keeping it’s staff than recruiting them. But how many Retaining Managers do you see in the industry?
Why should they stay with you? We know low salary is the 3rd or 4th reason to leave and in some cases is not able to be overcome. However, if you are scoring high on the 5 variables below, you have a greater chance of keeping them.
‘Skills for Care analysed the combined effect of five variables on turnover: higher pay, non-zero-hours contracts, full-time work, training access, and relevant qualifications. It estimated that when all five factors were present, care workers were 21.8 percentage points less likely to leave their roles than when workers did not fit any of the criteria’
We call this Stage RETAIN

The system has demonstrated its effectiveness, and through the Yorkshire Care Alliance, we are delighted to offer the opportunity to share the valuable lessons we’ve learned—free of charge.
In today’s fast paced environment your staff will need constant up skilling. With technology and AI just starting to gather pace it will be vital to understand what skills, experience and talents you have in your workforce and how these can be enhanced for the benefit of the company and the individual.
